Four Riverside County Firefighters were injured Tuesday while fighting a structure fire that broke out in the attic of a Rancho Mirage home.
The fire was first reported at 12:29 p.m. in the 10 block of Furman Court, according to April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.
Crews from across the valley battled “active, heavy fire” in the single-story home’s roof, which spread to an adjoining duplex, Newman said.
More than 60 county firefighters responded to the scene and were able to get the flames under control at 2:35 p.m. During the course of the fire fight, four firefighters were injured and transported to a area hospital with non-life threatening
Temperatures in the area hovered around 100 degrees in Rancho Mirage Tuesday afternoon, leading authorities to utilize a SunLine bus to cycle firefighters in and out of the heat.
Fire department investigators are currently looking into what started this fire.
