Quake Rattles Hemet, San Jacinto Valleys

A magnitude 3.5 earthquake centered about a mile north of San Jacinto shook the Hemet and San Jacinto valleys Wednesday, but there were no reports of damage.

The temblor was recorded at 3:09 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey, which reported the epicenter as 1.1 miles northwest of San Jacinto and 3.5 miles due north of Hemet.

Immediately after the quake, the Hemet Fire Department conducted a roll call to ensure the safety of crews and check the status of firehouses. All were reported to be fine.
