• “Firebird”

After almost a year in festival rounds, the searing, heartfelt film “Firebird” is now here.  From director Peeter Rebane and based on the book The Story of Roman by Sergey Fetisov, the film tells the story of Sergey (Tom Prior who also co-wrote the script with Rebane), a troubled young private who falls in love with a daring fighter pilot (Oleg Zagorodnii) in the Soviet Air Force during the Cold War.

    See why I’m recommending “Firebird.”

  • “The Northman”

“The Northman” is the new epic historical drama from director Robert Eggers (“The Witch,” “The Lighthouse”).  And it’s all about vengeance!  But is this worth your time and money?  Take a look.

  • “The Tender Bar”

Besides “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” there’s another movie out in theaters.  Ben Affleck teams up with director George Clooney for “The Tender Bar.”  So how did the two Batmans adapt J.R. Moehringer’s memoir?

  • “Being the Ricardos”

“Being the Ricardos” shows Lucille Ball (the fantastic Nicole Kidman) and Desi Arnaz (the equally fantastic Javier Bardem) as they navigate through scandals while preparing to shoot an episode of “I Love Lucy.”  From writer/director Aaron Sorkin, the film speaks volumes about the way Miss Ball changed Hollywood’s and pretty much the world’s perceptions on womanhood.  But is the film good?

  • “The Humans”

Stephen Karam adapts his own Tony-winning play for the big screen.  But is “The Humans” worth your time and money?

  • “House of Gucci”

This ripped from the headlines tabloid sensation is from director Ridley Scott.  But can Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Irons, and Al Pacino enter “House of Gucci?”

  • “tick…tick…BOOM!”

Andrew Garfield sings his heart out in “tick…tick…BOOM!” from director Lin-Manuel Miranda.  It’s an homage to struggling artists everywhere with the story of the “Rent” creator Jonathan Larson.
