Firefighters are on the scene of a spreading 3- to 5-acre fire burning near power lines by Avenue 66 and Highway 86 Expressway in Mecca, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Two 13-year-old students remained in custody at Juvenile Hall Friday following their arrests in connection with a handgun that was taken to Toro Canyon Middle School this week.
The investigation revealed, Brian Nichols, a 44-year-old resident of Palm Springs and teacher at the school, was under the influence of alcohol while instructing children.
