A fire erupted Tuesday in an open field just west of Interstate 215 in Menifee, scorching roughly four acres and threatening several homes as fire crews deployed around it.
A 73-year-old woman whose SUV struck a roadside berm just west of Hemet died at the scene, but there were indications she may have suffered a stroke or other medical emergency that precipitated the accident and caused her death, authorities said Thursday.
Menifee police officers will initiate a citywide crackdown on scofflaws who don’t buckle up, as well as commit other traffic violations, beginning Monday and continuing through Memorial Day weekend.
