A big fight night at Fantasy Springs Casino features a local underdog on the undercard, Leo ‘Bazooka’ Sanchez who trains out of the Diaz Brothers Training Camp in Indio.
“We’re very excited to start off 2022 with the new series, and obviously bringing championship boxing here to the valley. We have two scheduled coming up and possibly six. So we’ll be here for a while. We have prospects, we have contenders to come out here. For us, it’s always great because you’ll see the big stars of tomorrow fighting today.”
It was a sold-out show at Fantasy Springs Resort & Casino Golden Boy Fight Night, but the crowd wasn’t there for the main event. They came to cheer on rising prospect Manuel “Gucci” Flores (12-0,9 KO) from Coachella, CA as he took on Victor Ruiz.
Flores put on a show in front of his home crowd, knocking out Ruiz in the third round, and staying undefeated.
Flores will fight against Victor Ruiz from Tijuana, Mexico (23-12, 16 KO) in the second match of the day, a Super Bantamweight 8-round bout. This is the first time Flores will enter the ring as a pro in his hometown.
