Communities on the West Coast and in the Northeast are dealing with heavy snowfall, strong winds, power outages and dangerous road conditions from a series of storms lashing opposite sides of the US.
As a ferocious, multiday winter storm begins to subside after delivering heavy snow and ice to a large swath of the country this week and leaving thousands without power in the Midwest, another storm is threatening rain and snow in the West Friday, prompting rare blizzard warnings in Southern California.
A powerful, coast-to-coast storm was bringing heavy snow, high winds and ice on Wednesday, putting parts of more than two dozen states under winter weather alerts as travel conditions begin to deteriorate in some areas.
