Funnyman Jim Gaffigan is transitioning to dramatic roles. Beginning with last year’s “Collide,” the standup comic has been proving that he possesses dramatic prowess needed for heftier roles. This year, he’s starting off with the fantastic sci-fi dramedy “Linoleum” about a children’s science TV show host who decides to build his own rocket. But what he discovers is far more deeper – the nature of reality and the discovery of happiness.

First of all, I love Sumalee Montano! She’s smart, a fine actress, and super sweet. And above all, she’s Filipino-American! And she’s starring in a new film sci-fi film “The Deal” now out for free on The Roku Channel.

I had a fabulous time talking to the lovely ladies of “The Bubble.” The plot has a group of actors traveling to a closed film set (known as the bubble) in England to film “Cliff Beasts 6.” Leslie Mann and Karen Gillan play actresses while Maria Bakalova stars as Anika the front desk clerk at the hotel where the cast and crew are staying.

I spoke with Apatow together with his funny stars, Samson Kayo (he plays the actor handler named Bola) and Harry Trevaldwyn as the health officer named Gunther.

Kelly Yu talks about “Moonfall.” Is she a fan of disaster films and how was it working with Oscar-winner Halle Berry?

I love, love, love Octavia Spencer. Fantastic actress and great human being! And she told me she couldn’t wait to see me in person! Awwwww.

“Encounter” is a weird sci-fi/drama hybrid and I’m all here for it. Director Michael Pearce (“Beast”) started with sci-fi tropes then pull the cliches off and created searing Father-Sons drama with the fantastic Riz Ahmed as the dad to two fantastic child actors, Lucian-River Chauhan, and Aditya Geddada. I spent some time with the actors and Pearce for a behind-the-scenes look at “Encounter.”

Denis Villeneuve is the most recent director who is trying to crack the supposedly unfilmable Frank Herbert masterpiece Dune. But is it good?
