Five nonprofit organizations across the Coachella Valley are receiving nearly $677,000 in grant funding from the Desert Healthcare District and Foundation. Officials say the funding will support healthcare access, environmental health initiatives, and services for vulnerable residents.

California has reached a record number of registered voters ahead of Tuesday’s primary election, according to the Secretary of State’s office. Officials say more than 23.1 million Californians are now registered to vote statewide.

A bill authored by Assembly Member Greg Wallis aimed at easing permit requirements for homeowners dealing with Western Joshua Trees has passed the California State Assembly. AB 1663 would create a fee-free permit process for certain residential tree removals and trimming projects.
