Triple digit temperatures are expected to hit the Coachella Valley this weekend with the hottest day coming on Monday and Coachella Valley residents say they plan on beating the heat.

“Stay close to the house in the air conditioning and swim in the pool a lot,” said Palm Desert resident, Kipley Parrott.

The mercury in thermometers will consistently hover above at least 100 degrees during the day and some people plan to make the best of it.

“My father’s day plans are going to be to watch the U.S. Open on television and cook myself some lobster tails along with my wonderful wife, and we’ll just relax in the air conditioning and eat lobster and watch golf,” said Indian Wells resident, William A. Woodcock.

In excessively hot weather conditions, health professionals say to drink plenty of water and avoid alcoholic beverages or sugary drinks, as they can actually cause you to lose more bodily fluid. Be sure to wear appropriate attire, which means light weight, light colored and loose fitting clothing.

Here is what some Coachella Valley residents had to say about staying cool through the wave.

“Stay close to home. Do everything I need to do before 10 o’clock and not come back out of the house until about 7:00,” said Demi of Palm Desert.

“I will take a shower all the time. But I can’t stay home all the time because I have to work,” said Aida Gad of Indio.

“Probably stay indoors or stay in the pool,” said Jennifer Becker of La Quinta.
