Woman accused of assaulting man in MAGA hat faces deportation proceeding

A woman accused of assaulting a man wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat in a Cape Cod restaurant now faces possible deportation after being detained by federal agents. Rosiane Santos faces charges including assault after the confrontation in the Mexican restaurant. Video from the event was posted to Facebook on Feb. 15 by Bryton Turner, the man who was wearing the red cap. The video shows the woman grabbing the cap off his head and pulling it down over his eyes while he spoke to the camera. Turner declined to speak with WCVB about the video, but granted permission for its use. According a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokesman, Santos is a citizen of Brazil who is in the country unlawfully. She was arrested by ICE’s Fugitive Operations Team Monday near Falmouth. "She is presently in ICE custody and has been entered into removal proceedings before the federal immigration courts," the ICE spokesman said.
