Two Dead After Shooting at Rancho Mirage Medical Office

"There is no threat to the public and there are no outstanding suspects," according to a statement released on Twitter by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Two sources familiar with the business tell NBC Palm Springs that one of the victims is orthopedic surgeon, Dr. David Duffner, whose medical practice is located at the scene. Witnesses say they heard gunshots around 9:30 a.m. in the 71-500 block of Highway 111 near Indian Trail Road. Sheriff’s officials reported early Friday afternoon that no additional victims were located and "this appears to be an isolated incident." The entire business complex was expected to remain closed through late afternoon while sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit investigators work the scene.
