Magnitude 3.3 Earthquake Strikes Riverside County

A magnitude 3.3 earthquake centered near Borrego Springs in San Diego County — but near the cities of La Quinta, Coachella and Palm Desert — struck early Monday morning.

The temblor struck just before 5:30 a.m., roughly 7.8 miles north- northeast of Borrego Springs, at a depth of about 6.8 miles, according to a computer-generated report from the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was about 21.2 miles south of La Quinta, 23.7 miles south-southwest of Coachella and 25.6 miles south of Palm Desert.

No damage or injuries were immediately reported.
