Adopta gratis una mascota en San Diego gracias a Betty White
En honor de lo que hubiera sido el cumpleaños número 100 de Betty White, la San Diego Humane Society dejará de cobrar las cuotas de adopción en todos sus animales adultos esta semana, empezando este martes.
La organización sin fines de lucro espera poder encontrarle un hogar permanente a 100 mascotas antes del 17 de enero, día en que Betty White, la aclamada estrella de televisión y amante de los animales cumpliría cien años.

Se trata de su propia versión del #BettyWhiteChallenge, una campaña que surgió en redes sociales en la que se busca que los fans de la actriz donen cinco dólares a algún refugio de animales en nombre de White, como una manera de honrar su memoria y legado.
“Betty White era una inspiración por muchas razones y su compromiso al apoyo de los animales era ciertamente una de esas razones. Estamos felices de poder honrar ese legado al omitir nuestras cuotas de adopción, ayudando a que más mascotas encuentren un hogar amoroso”, dijo Jessica Des Lauriers, Jefa Operativa de la San Diego Humane Society.

Añadió que la pandemia presentó algunos otros desafíos, como las campañas de esterilización, las cuales se vieron obligadas a parar, lo que ha propiciado que los albergues de animales a lo largo del país, cuenten con una mayor población que necesita ser adoptada.

La San Diego Humane Society tiene sus puertas abiertas para adopciones sin cita de martes a domingo, en un horario de 10 a.m. a 6 p.m. en sus campus de Escondido, El Cajon, Oceanside y San Diego. Las cuotas de adopción serán nulas hasta el domingo 16 de enero.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders. Now, Kim is expected to be arraigned in connection with her husband’s death. Court records allege the weapon used was a flagpole.
