Liberan reporte preliminar sobre accidente de avión que cayó en El Cajon
El avión que servía como transporte médico chocó contra unos cables de electricidad en medio de la neblina antes de chocar cerca de San Diego el mes pasado, en un percance que dejó a dos enfermeras de vuelo y a dos pilotos muertos, dijeron investigadores federales el martes.
El Learjet 35A se impactó el 27 de diciembre mientras se preparaba para aterrizar en el Gillespie Field de El Cajon, de acuerdo con el reporte preliminar de la Junta Nacional de Seguridad en el Transporte.
El clima era muy nublado y con brisa al momento de que el avión hizo contacto con los cables de electricidad, para posteriormente caer sobre el patio de una casa a una milla y media de la pista, en un área no incorporada del Condado de San Diego.
El reporte no especificó la causa del accidente, ya que se planea sea publicada en el reporte final.
Nadie en tierra resultó herido afortunadamente.

Los pilotos eran Douglas Grande de 42 años y Julian Bugaj de 67, mientras que las enfermeras de vuelo eran Christina Ward de 52 años y Laurie Gentz de 68. Todos ellos trabajaban para Aeromedevac Air Ambulance, una compañía ubicada en El Cajon.
El jet bimotor estaba registrado a nombre de Med Jet LLC, ubicada en El Cajon, de acuerdo con los registros de la Administración Federal de Aviación.
El avión había volado ese mismo día de Lake Havasu en Arizona a Orange County, al sur de Los Ángeles para trasladar a un paciente y se dirigía a su base regular en Gillespie Field cuando cayó, de acuerdo con el reporte de la Junta Nacional de Seguridad en el Transporte.
Las comunicaciones vía radio entre el avión y la pista de aterrizaje muestran que el piloto canceló un aterrizaje basado en instrumentos de vuelo en una pista y pidió que le fuera permitido cambiar a una pista con un aterrizaje basado en elementos visuales.
Una vez que el cambio fue concedido y se le giraron nuevas instrucciones, el piloto pidió que prendieran las luces de la pista, sin embargo le notificaron que ya se encontraban al 100% de su capacidad.
El reporte indica que el avión sobrevoló el aeropuerto a poca altura y no se elevó lo suficiente para su reintento de aterrizaje.
Justo antes del impacto, el piloto exclamó tres veces y gritó, de acuerdo con las comunicaciones grabadas por LiveATC.net.

Palm Springs firefighters responded Thursday to a report of a person struck by lightning in the Chino Canyon area. The person was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. Firefighters also responded to a palm tree fire in Chino Canyon that officials say was caused by an apparent lightning strike.
