Exguardia de prisión en San Diego es sentenciado por contrabando de drogas y celulares
Un exoficial del Centro Penitenciario Richard J. Donovan fue sentenciado este jueves a pasar más de tres años en prisión, luego de ser descubierto contrabandeando drogas y teléfonos celulares al interior de esta prisión en San Diego.
Anibal Navarro de 43 años y residente de Chula Vista se declaró culpable de los cargos federales de conspiración y soborno, admitiendo introducir de contrabando teléfonos, metanfetaminas, heroína, marihuana y más al interior de la prisión, de acuerdo con lo declarado por la fiscalía.
Los fiscales afirman que mientras estaba recluido en el Centro Penitenciario Richard J. Donovan, el interno Martin Gomez, reclutó a Navarro al ofrecerle una vía de ganar dinero extra, cuando Gomez bien sabía que Navarro lo necesitaba.
La Oficina del Fiscal de Estados Unidos dice que Gomez lideró la operación por más de dos años, mientras estuvo encarcelado en las prisiones federales de San Diego y Los Ángeles, donde orquestó el contrabando de varias sustancias y objetos para otros reclusos, con el apoyo de Navarro.
Anibal Navarro ingresaba ilegalmente a la carcel más de 500 gramos de drogas, además de que los celulares que hacía ingresar al penal eran usados para la coordinación de actividades criminales tanto fuera como adentro de la cárcel, por lo que recibía un pago de entre $1,000 y $2,000 dólares en cada entrega.
“Los oficiales de las correccionales tienen a su cargo la responsabilidad de mantener al público, a los internos y al resto de los empleados de la prisión a salvo. El exoficial Anibal Navarro ganó dinero ilegalmente al crear un ambiente peligroso en la prisión cuando decidió contrabandear narcóticos altamente peligrosos y adictivos. Sin mencionar que los teléfonos que ayudó a ingresar son utilizados para coordinar actividades ilegales e incluso actos violentos”, dijo el fiscal Randy Grossman.
Más de 10 personas, incluido Martin Gomez, se han declarado culpables y han sido sentenciados en relación con este caso.

A troubling history is coming to light in a Palm Desert husband’s death. 65-year old Vicky Kim is accused in the death of her husband — but prosecutors say she had previously faced several domestic violence cases involving him. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office says it had secured protective orders against Kim before a judge later resolved her cases as misdemeanors, released her from custody and terminated those orders.
