Hundreds Gather To Support Chuckwalla Monument

The group is calling on the president to designate the Space Under The Antiquities Act. It would preserve about 630,000 acres near the Salton Sea, including the Mecca Hills wilderness. The space also would extend a protected portion of Joshua Tree National Park. Yesterday’s meeting was hosted by the Department of Interior and Bureau of Land Management.
