An NBC Palm Springs Tropical Update: The Gulf!

An NBC Palm Springs Tropical Update: The Gulf!

The National Hurricane Center has finally made reference to a Tropical Wave which is developing in the Southwest Caribbean just to the East of Nicaragua. This disorganized area of thunderstorms may become a Tropical Depression by Monday as it begins to move to the North, then -- as possible Tropical Storm Raphael -- turn to the North-Northwest over Cuba on Wednesday. The images posted here are from the latest Global Forecast System which put a possible Hurricane a few hundred miles to the West of Key West on Thursday, November 7. Next, this latest update has this system moving to the West-Northwest into the Gulf of Mexico, then making a quick loop to the North-Northeast toward the Florida Panhandle where it could make landfall very late on Saturday, November 9. This system has been very difficult to pinpoint as there are so many gears which must be factored while determining its possible development, strength, direction and speed. And, I'm sure, there will be even more changes. This is just one forecast. Stay tuned! @JerrySteffen @NBCPalmSprings
