Palm Springs Reaches $5.9 Million Settlement with Section 14 Survivors, Honoring Historical Injustices

Palm Springs has reached a historic $5.9 million settlement with former Section 14 residents and their descendants, acknowledging forced displacement of minority groups in the 1950s. Alongside direct compensation, the City Council will vote on $21 million in housing and business initiatives, prioritizing Section 14 families. This settlement also includes plans for a public monument and a community park renaming in remembrance of the affected families.
