Study: Post-Surgery Complications Affect More Than A Third Of Patients
The Threat Of Post-Surgery Complications Remains A Concern In The U.S. According To A Study Published This Week In The "BMJ" Medical Journal, More Than A Third Of People Have Adverse Effects After Going Under The Knife, And Roughly 20 Percent Of Those Issues Were Caused By Medical Errors. The Study Was Small -- Only Looking At About One Thousand Patients In Massachusetts. Researchers Say In Some Cases These Medical Mistakes Resulted In Problems, Including Infections, That Were Either Serious Or Life-Threatening. They Add Hospitals Need To Make Greater Progress On Patient Safety.
