Bomb Cyclone Hits Northern California, Bringing Heavy Rain, Snow, and Winds

A powerful bomb cyclone is battering Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, bringing record-breaking rainfall, damaging winds, and snow to the region. The storm has caused widespread power outages, downed trees, and flooded low-lying areas. Drivers are being urged to slow down, and chain restrictions are in place in some areas as dangerous conditions persist. The relentless rain is swelling rivers and creeks, creating hazardous conditions, including landslides and road closures. A flood watch remains in effect through Friday for Del Norte, Humboldt, and southern Trinity counties, with additional weather warnings across the area. Winter storm warnings are in place above 2,500 feet, with heavy snow expected above 3,500 feet. With conditions worsening, authorities are advising residents to avoid driving through standing water and to be cautious of debris on the roads. A high surf warning is also in effect as large waves pound the coastline, and more heavy winds are expected as the storm continues to churn through the region.
