Dictionary.com Names "Demure" as 2024 Word of the Year

Dictionary.com has announced its 2024 Word of the Year, and it is... drum roll, please... Demure! The word gained widespread attention this summer, largely due to a popular social media and beauty influencer. Traditionally used to describe reserved behavior, "demure" has also become associated with a person's appearance. Other contenders for the title included "brain rot," "weird," and "brat." While "brat" didn’t make the cut, it reminds me of something different—a Wisconsin favorite, the bratwurst sausage, which is delicious! And speaking of food, our turkey is roasting nicely in the studio oven, slowly coming together for tomorrow’s feast. It’s looking pretty good!
