Palm Springs Police Mourn Community Officer Nicholas Griego Killed in Motorcycle Crash
The Palm Springs Police Department is grieving the tragic loss of Community Service Officer Nicholas Griego, who was killed in a motorcycle accident on Thanksgiving morning. Grego, 31, had worked earlier that day before the fatal collision occurred at the intersection of East Palm Canyon and Cathedral Canyon in Cathedral City around 11:50 a.m. Cathedral City Police received multiple 911 calls reporting the crash, which involved Griego’s motorcycle and a pickup truck. Sadly, Grego succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Cathedral City Police Department is leading the investigation, and it remains unclear if the pickup driver sustained injuries or if drugs or alcohol were factors. Authorities also confirmed the collision involved another Palm Springs Police Department employee. However, it is unknown if the two were working together or how they might be connected. Officer Griego is survived by his wife and two young children. Friends have started a GoFundMe campaign to assist his family with daily expenses and funeral costs. Additional plans to honor his life are expected to be announced soon. This heartbreaking incident highlights the sacrifice of public servants like Griego, who dedicated their lives to serving the community.
