San Diego Welcomes Giving Machines Project
San Diego is now home to two Light the World Giving Machines, innovative vending machines that let people donate to those in need during the holiday season. Part of a global initiative launched in 2017, these machines have raised over $32 million for charities worldwide. The concept is simple yet impactful: instead of purchasing a snack or drink, you can donate to provide essential items such as a month’s worth of baby food, a pair of shoes for a child, or breakfast for someone in need. Donations start at just $5. This marks the first year San Diego has hosted the machines, but the project extends far beyond the city. Similar machines are set to appear in over 100 cities across five continents, spreading the spirit of giving worldwide. The machines offer a unique and meaningful way to make a difference during the holidays, turning everyday transactions into acts of kindness.
