Last-Minute Holiday Shopping? Here's What Kids Want This Year
As the countdown to Christmas continues, parents scrambling for last-minute gift ideas might find some inspiration in what kids are raving about this year. Reporter Olivia Aker visited The Learning Tree in Prairie Village to chat with young shoppers and store owner Brett Goodwin about what’s topping wish lists this holiday season. For 4-year-old Freddie, toy trucks are the must-have item, with Pokémon remaining a perennial favorite among older kids. Goodwin, who works to stock both timeless classics and trendy new toys, says, "We want to be on top of all the trends. Pokémon, Legos, and Slime are still incredibly popular, and newer items like the electronic lasso are quickly flying off the shelves." Gallup News predicts Americans will spend an average of $1,014 on holiday gifts this year, a significant increase from last year’s $923. Goodwin says his store has felt the impact of this rise but remains committed to keeping prices as low as possible, even amid inflation concerns. For those still shopping, Goodwin assures parents they’re not alone. "We expect store traffic to stay high through the rest of the season." Whether it’s a nostalgic throwback or the latest craze, these ideas from The Learning Tree are sure to brighten kids’ faces this Christmas. Don’t wait—get those gifts wrapped and ready!
