Firebirds' Ugly Sweater Night: Festive Fun and a Crucial Matchup at Acrisure Arena

The Coachella Valley Firebirds are turning up the holiday cheer tonight at Acrisure Arena with their annual Ugly Sweater Night. Fans are invited to show off their most festive (and ugliest) sweaters while cheering on the Firebirds as they face the Ontario Reign in a pivotal game. Attendees will receive a Coachella Valley Firebirds stocking as part of a stocking stuffer giveaway at the entrances, adding to the festive atmosphere. NBC Palm Springs' own Caitlyn Kelley will be on the lookout for the ugliest sweaters, hosting a special contest and taking photos with fans in front of a holiday-themed backdrop. Tim O'Brien showcased the special jerseys the Firebirds players will wear, saying, "They did a great job—it’s hard to even call these jerseys ugly!" The team will need more than festive spirit as they aim to bounce back from their recent loss to San Jose and hold their third-place standing in the division. Head Coach Derek Laxdal acknowledged the challenges but expressed confidence in his team: "We’re young, dealing with injuries, but the guys have done a great job. It’s all about bouncing back, and I expect our group to do that tonight." With just two points separating third and sixth place in the standings, tonight's game is an opportunity for the Firebirds to widen the gap against a surging Ontario Reign. Whether you're there for the game, the sweaters, or both, it’s sure to be a night full of holiday spirit and hockey action. Don’t forget to find Caitlyn Kelley with your sweater for a chance to be featured on NBC Palm Springs at 11!
