FDA Issues High-Risk Recall for Organic Eggs Sold at Costco
FDA Elevates Recall of Organic Costco Eggs to High-Risk Status
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has raised a recall of organic eggs sold at Costco to its highest risk level, citing potential salmonella contamination. This classification indicates a reasonable probability that consuming the affected eggs could result in serious health consequences or even death.
The recall involves nearly 11,000 24-count packages of organic, pasture-raised eggs distributed under Costco's Kirkland Signature brand. Produced by New York-based Hansom Brook Farms, the eggs were sold at 25 Costco locations across Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The recalled products have a "use by" date of January 6th.
Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported to date. The FDA urges consumers who purchased the eggs to either discard them immediately or return them to Costco for a full refund. Ensuring food safety remains a priority, and this proactive recall aims to protect public health.
