Former President Jimmy Carter Dies at 100

(CNN Newswire) – Former President Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, has passed away at the age of 100, according to a statement from the Carter Center.

Carter, who served a single term in office from 1977 to 1981, was widely recognized for his post-presidential humanitarian efforts. In February 2023, he entered home hospice care following several short hospitalizations.

His passing comes shortly after the death of his wife, former first lady Rosalynn Carter, who passed away on November 19, 2023. The couple, married for 77 years, were celebrated for their dedication to public service and their lasting legacy in promoting global health, democracy, and peace.
