Weekend Workout with David Lyons
On this week's Weekend Workout, David Lyons brings you an accessible yet effective training program designed for all fitness levels. His "Optimal Body Training" can be performed at home using just resistance bands, though dumbbells, water bottles, or gym equipment can also be used for similar movements. This workout takes only 20 to 30 minutes, with rest periods in between sets to keep your energy up while focusing on proper form.
The workout begins with a chest exercise, where Lyons walks you through a contraction movement that targets the chest muscles. Kendra, his workout partner, demonstrates by pressing the resistance band outward while holding the contraction for four seconds. This is followed by back exercises, where the focus shifts to squeezing the shoulder blades together, engaging the back muscles with each contraction. Finally, the workout wraps up with shoulder exercises that target the deltoids through controlled lateral raises, again holding for a four-second contraction.
Throughout the session, Lyons emphasizes balance, controlled movement, and the importance of stretching the muscles to ensure effective contraction training. Whether you're new to fitness or a seasoned pro, these exercises can be done at your own pace, helping you build strength and flexibility without the need for bulky gym equipment.
