Man dies after crashing golf cart in Palm Desert

A 78 year old man died over the weekend after succumbing to injuries he received when his golf cart collided with a car on Monterey Avenue. According to the Riverside County Sheriffs Department, Timothy Lillard was crossing Avenida Del Sol at around noon on Saturday December 29th, when a car and his golf cart collided, causing the cart to roll on its side. Lillard was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs... where he later passed away last Thursday.

This accident marks the third fatal pedestrian and vehicle accident in the valley in under two weeks. On friday, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported that 72-year-old Patrick Petre died from his injuries when a car collided with his bicycle on Fred Waring and San Pablo Avenue in Palm Desert.

The crash happened at around 6:30 in the morning last Thursday. Petre was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center where he later died from his wounds. The driver remained on scene to cooperate with authorities. The cause of the collision is still under investigation and drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor

This accident came one day after a fatal car and bicycle accident in Rancho Mirage. It happened on highway 111 and Frank Sinatra Drive. The identity of that victim has not been released.
