Temporary Flight Restriction Issued as President Biden Expected to Land in Coachella Valley
Tonight, Caitlyn Kelley brings us the latest live update from Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal, where all eyes are on the impending arrival of President Biden. According to Kelley, wind gusts are a key factor in determining the landing schedule, but the current expectation is that Air Force One will touch down at the Thermal airport tomorrow afternoon.
"Wind can affect a lot of things," Kelley notes, explaining that safety remains the top priority for flight operations. Despite the uncertainty about the exact timing, Kelley highlighted that a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) in place around the airport strongly indicates that President Biden will land at Thermal. The TFR zone is visible on the FlightAware app, which tracks air traffic for pilots. This no-fly zone, marked by a large circle, also encompasses Bermuda Dunes Airport, meaning that no planes will be allowed to fly over the area during the restricted period.
For residents of Bermuda Dunes, Kelley humorously reassured them that tomorrow will be a quieter day, as the flight ban prevents aircraft from flying overhead for the duration of the TFR.
"We suspect that President Biden will land here in Thermal," Kelley reports, emphasizing that while this is the current expectation, the weather could still lead to changes. More updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops throughout the evening.
