At Least 2 Dead In LA County Wildfires Empowered By Strong Santa Ana Winds
At Least 2 People Have Been Killed As The Fast Moving Fires Continue To Engulf The Los Angeles Area, With More Than 80,000 People Ordered To Evacuate. The Largest Of The Blazes, The Palisades Fire, Has Already Burned More Than 5,000 Acres And Is Reaching Malibu As Of The Most Recent Report. The Eaton Fire In The Areas Of Pasadena And Altadena, Which Is Believed To Be The Cause Of The Two Deaths, Has Destroyed Over 2,000 Acres. Finally, The Hurst Fire, Which Broke Out In The Sylmar Area North Of San Fernando. Has Burned Over 500 Acres As Of This Hour. According To Officials, The Fires Were Sparked By Dry Conditions And Powerful Winds Are Playing A Huge Role In Its Spread. As Of The Most Recent Report In A Press Conference This Morning, Almost 300,000 Energy Customers Are In The Dark. La County Has Asked For Aid In Battling The Blazes, And So Far, First Responders From Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara And San Luis Obispo Counties Are Responding On Top Of Those From Out Of State.
