Mexico Sends Firefighters to California
California is receiving vital help from Mexico in its fight against devastating wildfires. On Saturday afternoon, Governor Gavin Newsom welcomed Mexican firefighters and disaster relief personnel at Los Angeles International Airport. These teams will join the 14,000 other firefighters already working to contain the flames, which have claimed at least 16 lives and destroyed thousands of structures. The 70-plus personnel from Mexico’s National Forestry Commission and Ministry of Defense bring much-needed support to the crisis. With their help, California hopes to make significant progress in battling the destructive fires.
