Coachella City Council Votes to Place City Manager on Administrative Leave
In a special session held yesterday, the Coachella City Council voted to place City Manager Dr. Gabriel Martin on administrative leave. The decision follows recent performance evaluations for both Dr. Martin and City Attorney Carlos Campos. While Campos was voted out of his position on January 7th, Dr. Martin's administrative leave marks a significant development for the city.
Dr. Martin has served as the city manager since 2021, and his tenure has now come under scrutiny following the council's evaluations. The council members will reconvene next Wednesday to vote on a new city manager, a move that will shape the leadership of Coachella moving forward. The city is expected to continue its focus on finding a suitable replacement for Dr. Martin as part of ongoing changes in the city's administration.
