Palm Springs Animal Shelter Asks For Community's Donations, To Help Evacuees And Animals Coming From Los Angeles Fires

The Palm Springs Animal Shelter is looking to be a safe space for neighbors and their animals evacuating from the Los Angeles fires.

Thanks to donations from residents like Erica Richardson, they’re able to help provide supplies for neighbors and their animals in need.

"We're really trying to help on several different levels. There are many displaced people that have come to Palm Springs. They had to flee their houses quickly. A lot of them didn't have the pet supplies and items that they need." Dan Rossi, the Executive Director for the Palm Springs Animal Shelter says.

Officials with the animal shelter have recently made trips to the L.A. County shelter, to help bring some of those animals down to the desert.

With so many shelters overwhelmed and overcapacity, they’re in need of the community’s assistance.

"We are working hard to make sure anybody that's here with their pets have everything they need to keep that animal healthy and happy and comfortable, for the most part." Rossi says.

They say, there are a number of ways you can help.

"What we need are towels and pet food, especially dry and wet cat food. We also need adoptions, you know. People that adopt these days, they're actually saving two lives. They're saving that animal that's here. They're opening up a kennel so we can go save another animal in L.A. as well." Rossi adds.

For all those interested in donating, donations can be dropped off at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter.
