Annenberg Foundation Hosts Naturalization Ceremony for 50 New U.S. Citizens at Sunnylands
The Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage celebrated a momentous occasion yesterday, hosting a naturalization ceremony for 50 individuals from 20 different countries. These new U.S. citizens took the oath of allegiance in a moving ceremony held at the historic venue, known for its mission of bringing people together globally.
David Lane, the president of the Annenberg Trust, expressed the foundation’s pride in being able to host the ceremony at the Sunnylands Visitor Center and Gardens. “We are privileged to get to host 50 new American citizens as they get sworn in,” said Lane. He emphasized the significance of the event, especially as someone from an immigrant family himself, recognizing the transformative power of citizenship.
Among the new citizens was an individual from Poland who shared their personal journey of seeking a better life in the U.S. after arriving 17 years ago. The ceremony also featured a touching moment when a Marine colleague of one of the new citizens attended to offer support and encouragement.
The Annenbergs, children of immigrants, have always embraced the values of inclusion and diversity, making the naturalization ceremony a fitting event for the location. Lane concluded by reflecting on the importance of such ceremonies: "This is the lifeblood of America—new citizens taking the oath, committed to the way of life that we've all embraced."
NBC Palm Springs' Kai Beach provided coverage of the event, which showcased the diversity and hope that new American citizens bring to the country. The ceremony served as a reminder of the ongoing journey toward unity and shared values.
