Thursday Evening Update: Stunning Views and Weather Forecast for the Weekend
Happy Thursday, everyone! As we kick off the evening, we're taking a live look at the Walter Clark High 11 Cam in Rancho Mirage, where stunning views continue to showcase the beauty of the desert. A little bit of cloud cover adds to the atmospheric charm, and we can expect to chat about tonight's incredible sunset all show long.
Before diving into the weather details, let's give a quick shout-out to the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, located at the river. If you're in the area, stop by for some delicious chocolate, including the newly viral Dubai Bar – it’s definitely worth checking out!
As always, our viewers continue to impress with their sunset photography. Merle from Desert Hot Springs sent in a beautiful photo that captures all the vibrant colors of the sky, and Donna from Indio did a fantastic job highlighting the layers of color with the mountains in the background. We also got a stunning shot from Doug in Desert Hot Springs, proving once again that the desert sunsets never disappoint.
Shifting to the weather, we’ve been experiencing some of the driest conditions on record. As you can see from our monthly rainfall chart for 2024, January through March saw minimal rainfall, and from April onward, the desert remained extremely dry with barely any precipitation. September offered a slight reprieve, but overall, it’s been an exceptionally dry year.
Looking ahead, there’s still a chance of some drizzle along the coast, though not much rainfall is expected for the inland areas. However, moisture will begin to rise in the atmosphere thanks to a system passing through from the Pacific. While it might not bring much rain, we can expect higher dew points.
Tonight, temperatures are mild, with highs reaching 75 degrees – a bit above average for this time of year. The desert floor will cool down into the 40s overnight, and temperatures will remain in the 60s for the next few hours. As we move into the weekend, the weather forecast suggests continued pleasant conditions with highs in the 70s, while early next week could see cooler temperatures in the 60s as that Pacific system moves through.
Finally, as we wrap up another beautiful day in the desert, don’t forget to enjoy tonight’s sunset – possibly one of the best of the year so far! With temperatures in the 70s and calm skies, it’s a great time to appreciate the beauty of the desert landscape. Here’s to another wonderful evening and the anticipation of more breathtaking sunsets in the days to come.
Stay tuned for more updates and enjoy the weather!
