Grammy-Nominated Chris Walden Brings Pacific Jazz Orchestra to McCallum Theatre
The McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert was alive with the sound of jazz as the Pacific Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Grammy-nominated composer Chris Walden, performed a special live concert today.
Chris Walden, celebrated for his role as lead arranger for the Oscars and collaborations with music icons like Michael Bublé, Diana Krall, and Sir Paul McCartney, directed the 40-piece hybrid big band and string orchestra in a night of musical brilliance.
As the artistic director of the Pacific Jazz Orchestra, Walden has curated a powerhouse ensemble of top-tier studio musicians. Many of these performers have also graced the Oscar stage, adding a touch of Hollywood sophistication to the evening.
The audience was treated to a masterful showcase of Walden’s award-winning arrangements, which blend the classic jazz big band sound with lush string accompaniments. From sweeping orchestral melodies to toe-tapping jazz rhythms, the performance highlighted the versatility and artistry that have earned Walden seven Grammy nominations.
This concert not only celebrated Walden’s illustrious career but also reinforced the McCallum Theatre’s reputation as a premier venue for world-class performances in the Coachella Valley.
