Headline: Cathedral City Tackles Odor Complaints from Cannabis Facility
Cathedral City is addressing long-standing complaints from residents about the odor of marijuana emanating from the Cathedral City Cannabis Company on Ramon Road. During an interview on The Rogan Report, City Manager Charlie McClendon detailed the city’s response to the issue and its plan to mitigate the odor.
McClendon emphasized the city has taken every resident complaint seriously, logging reports of the smell and investigating both during regular hours and overnight. This includes deploying code enforcement officers on overtime shifts and tasking police with overnight patrols to gather data. "We’ve taken the complaints very seriously," McClendon stated.
The city discovered the facility was not fully complying with odor control requirements. In October, the business was issued a notice to upgrade its filtering systems. While improvements have been made, McClendon admitted they haven’t eliminated the issue entirely. "To the folks who live close by, any emission is too much, and we understand that," he said.
Additionally, a citywide moratorium on new cannabis businesses is being considered to prevent similar issues in other areas. "Our goal is to ensure no odor crosses property lines," McClendon reiterated, adding that addressing these concerns requires time but remains a priority.
Fred Rogan pressed McClendon for reassurance that the problem will be resolved. "That’s our commitment," McClendon affirmed.
As the city works toward a resolution, residents can rest assured their concerns are being heard and steps are being taken to improve the situation. Stay tuned for updates on The Rogign Report.
