Filipino American Association of Coachella Valley Partners with LA Food Bank for Wildfire Victims

As wildfires continue to devastate parts of Los Angeles, the Filipino American Association of Coachella Valley is stepping up to provide much-needed support for victims. In collaboration with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Phil-Am will host a donation drive on Saturday, January 25, from 8 AM to 11 AM at the Valley Christian Assembly parking lot in Palm Desert.

The Filipino American Association of Coachella Valley, a non-profit organization focused on community service, has a long history of helping the local area through initiatives like scholarships for senior high school students and other humanitarian projects. This time, their outreach extends beyond the Coachella Valley to assist those impacted by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles.

"We are always looking for ways to support our community, and this donation drive is a vital way we can help wildfire victims," said Liza Ryan Gatmaitang Reyes, president of the Filipino American Association of Coachella Valley. The community is encouraged to bring donations of items listed on the event's flyer, which will go directly to those affected by the fires.

In addition to the Filipino American Association, the healthcare sector of Coachella Valley has also partnered in this endeavor, further highlighting the collaborative nature of this effort. The event will be held at Valley Christian Assembly at 17979 Fred Waring Drive in Palm Desert, and volunteers will be on hand to collect contributions.

Manny the Movie Guy, who helped publicize the event, praised the group for its ongoing dedication to both the Filipino-American community and the larger Coachella Valley area. "This is about supporting not just the Filipino community but everyone in need, and it's heartwarming to see these acts of kindness," said Manny.

The organization looks forward to continuing its charitable work and encouraging the Coachella Valley community to participate in this important donation drive.
