Traffic Alerts and Weekend Events in Palm Desert and Indio

Palm Desert city officials have released traffic alerts for two major events scheduled this weekend, causing several road closures throughout the city. On Saturday, from 3 a.m. to 4 p.m., roads will be closed for the USA Women’s Half Marathon, impacting areas such as San Pablo from Fred Waring Drive to Magnesia Falls, as well as parts of Monterey, Gerald Ford, Gateway, Dinah Shore, and Portola Drive.

Then, on Sunday from 5 to 11 a.m., El Paseo will be closed between Portola Avenue and Highway 74 for the annual Palm Desert Charter Middle School Panther 5K, which kicks off at 8 a.m. Drivers are advised to use caution, plan ahead, and consider alternate routes due to the closures.

In addition to the road closures, there are a variety of events happening nearby in Indio this weekend. Food Truck Fridays will continue until 10 p.m., offering a range of tasty treats in downtown Indio. For those looking for fresh, local goods, the Indio Farmers Market will take place tomorrow at 9 a.m.

Art enthusiasts can check out the Desert Art Studio, open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., showcasing local creativity. If you’re in the mood for some entertainment and craft brews, head over to the Indio Taphouse Winter Beer Festival from 1 to 6 p.m., where you can sample beers from various local breweries and enjoy live DJ entertainment.

With so many activities, be sure to plan ahead and stay mindful of road closures while enjoying all the weekend events.
