Activists Protest President Trump's Immigration Policies in Coachella Valley on 'Day Without Immigrants'

Activists throughout Southern California have come together to organize protests in response to President Trump's immigration policies. These demonstrations have made their way to the Coachella Valley, where local advocates are standing in solidarity with immigrant communities. The protests, centered around a day known as "A Day Without Immigrants," aimed to highlight the struggles of immigrant workers and families who feel threatened by recent government actions.

In the city of Coachella, dozens of protesters gathered to make their voices heard, holding signs and chanting for hours. One local protester shared her personal reasons for participating, speaking on behalf of her mother, an immigrant who was too afraid to join the protest herself. "I'm obviously here as her daughter, supporting her, supporting our community, using my voice as her voice, speaking up for her and for many others," the protester explained. "Immigrants come here just to have a better life, and for people to call them criminals is just not fair."

The protests were not limited to the streets, as some local businesses closed for the day in solidarity with the movement. The phrase "A Day Without Immigrants" was displayed on signs throughout the region, emphasizing the important role immigrants play in local economies and communities.

Local activists say they will continue to advocate for immigrant rights and will not back down in the face of opposition. As the demonstrations unfold, NBC Palm Springs will continue to cover the ongoing protests and the broader movement for immigrant rights.
