Members of The Community Protest In Solidarity With Immigrants
There are reports of Immigrant communities across the country and here at home are planning to stay home from work or school today and avoid shopping or dinning out in a day of protest.
It's being called the "Day Without Immigrants" with participants saying it's a way to show how significant immigrant contributions are to the country.
Here in the valley, there are reports of a number of stores closing in solidarity, and protests are reported to be happening in Coachella off of avenue 51.
We reached out to Palm Springs Unified School District who reported a notable drop off in attendance today, though specific numbers were not immediately available.
They also added that no walkouts or organized protests have occurred.
Across social media, people are sharing posts about these protests.
