Riverside County Animal Control Team Assists in Palisades Fire Relief Efforts

A dedicated team of six Riverside County Animal Control officers has completed a critical mission in Los Angeles, providing relief efforts during the devastating Palisades Fire. Deployed under California's mutual aid system from January 16th to 25th, they were the first to respond to the disaster. The team's main objective was to work with other agencies in evacuating and caring for animals, both pets and livestock, affected by the fire.

In total, the Riverside County officers handled over 180 calls, assisting more than 100 animals during their extended assignment. Although initially set for a five-day period, their mission was lengthened due to the urgency and evolving nature of the fire’s destruction. The team's tireless efforts ensured that animals in the fire's path received the care and safety they needed during the intense situation.

This swift response under the state's mutual aid program highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in disaster scenarios, where every resource counts. The success of Riverside County’s first responders serves as a model for future emergency relief efforts, demonstrating their commitment to both public and animal safety in times of crisis.
