Riverside Supervisors Approve $960K Flight Training Contract
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors has approved a new contract with Costa Mesa-based Helistream Inc. to handle all flight training needs for the Sheriff's Department for the next five years. The deal, worth $960,000, was approved with a unanimous 5-0 vote, though no comments were made during the meeting. Helistream, which has been selected by the county in previous years, specializes in air operations training for law enforcement agencies like the DEA and CHP. The Sheriff's Aviation Unit states that Helistream is the only company in the southwestern U.S. offering specialized training for the county's Airbus H-125 and H-145 helicopters. This contract will ensure continued, specialized training for the Sheriff's Department's aviation division.
