Lunar New Year Celebrated in Rancho Mirage

The Coachella Valley came alive with the sounds and colors of Chinese culture as the third annual Lunar Festival took place at The River in Rancho Mirage. The event, celebrated the Lunar New Year, marking the Year of the Snake. This vibrant festival brought together food vendors, retail booths, nonprofits, and entertainment acts in the amphitheater, highlighting the rich traditions and cultural diversity of the Chinese community.

A member of The River’s marketing events team, emphasized the importance of community and inclusion, stating that the festival offers an opportunity to learn and appreciate different cultures. “It’s amazing to see everyone come together with an open mind,” she said, noting that the event encourages cultural exchange and unity.

The festival featured a variety of performances, including traditional Chinese dances, and showcased Asian-owned businesses. One local business owner expressed pride in sharing their culture with the community, while visitors were impressed by the entertainment, colorful performances, and unique food options.
