Palm Springs Air Museum Honors WWII Veterans at Voices of Valor Gala
PALM SPRINGS – The Palm Springs Air Museum paid tribute to the “Greatest Generation” with its Voices of Valor gala, a special event honoring eight World War II veterans. The black-tie affair brought together distinguished color guards from around the world, including the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard and Canada’s Black Watch, in a moving tribute to those who served.
Guests were treated to commemorative portraits by official artist Steve Anderson, as well as heartfelt musical performances and tributes. The event marked the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, celebrating the heroic contributions of these remarkable men and women.
Among those honored was British war veteran Arthur Mick Dawson, whose journey began in 1939 when Great Britain declared war on Nazi Germany. By 1942, at just 14 years old, Dawson left school to support the war effort, later joining the British Army in 1946. One of his fondest memories was bringing Christmas cheer to fellow soldiers by wiring up lights for a mess hall celebration, a moment met with applause and carols from hundreds of troops.
The Voices of Valor gala not only honored the past but also raised funds to support the museum’s educational mission, ensuring that the legacy of these heroes continues to inspire future generations.
