Rain Moves Into Coachella Valley Tonight, Cooler Temperatures and Wind Advisory Ahead

COACHELLA VALLEY – Cloudy skies over the Coachella Valley signal the arrival of an incoming storm system, bringing on-and-off showers tonight and cooler temperatures through Friday.

Light sprinkles were reported earlier in San Gorgonio Pass, but the main rain event is expected between 6 p.m. and midnight, with Palm Springs forecasted to receive up to a third of an inch of rain. Southeastern areas like Indio will see lighter totals, around a tenth of an inch.

With an atmospheric river feeding moisture into the region, burn scar areas west of the valley are under a flash flood watch due to the potential for mudslides and debris flow. Meanwhile, snow levels will drop to 6,000 feet, with up to 16 inches of snow expected at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway by Friday morning.

Wind advisories go into effect tomorrow for the San Gorgonio Pass, high desert, and wind-prone areas of the valley, with gusty conditions expected.

After the system exits Friday, temperatures will slowly rise, reaching 74°F by the weekend, with high clouds and filtered sunshine expected for Saturday and Sunday.
