Toro Canyon Middle School Students Spread Love with Valentine's Day Cards to JFK Memorial Hospital

Indio, CA – This week, the Desert Care Network received an early Valentine’s Day gift from Toro Canyon Middle School students, who spread love and joy with hand-crafted cards for both staff and patients at JFK Memorial Hospital. Seventh and eighth-grade students wrote messages of encouragement such as "get well" and "feel better," bringing a heartwarming touch to the hospital ahead of Valentine’s Day.

The students delivered the cards on Thursday, brightening the day for many. Hospital officials shared that the cards were a great way to bring warmth to the community, with some being handed out to patients as they came in for surgery. "It was a friendly, warm way to practice their art skills and provide something meaningful to the community," said a representative from the Desert Care Network. This is the second year Toro Canyon has participated in the event, and the hospital staff expressed deep appreciation for the thoughtful gesture.

In addition to the student-driven card initiative, the Desert Care Network also celebrates Valentine’s Day babies in a special way. Those born on February 14th at JFK Memorial Hospital receive customized onesies. This year’s Valentine’s Day babies, Maxine, Omni, and Lonnie, were treated to their adorable personalized attire, marking a unique and heartwarming start to their lives.

The efforts from both Toro Canyon Middle School and the Desert Care Network have helped to spread kindness and love throughout the community, making this Valentine’s Day one to remember.
