Cathedral City Residents Still Frustrated Over Lingering Cannabis Odor

For months, Cathedral City residents have been raising concerns about the strong cannabis odor coming from a local cultivation facility. Despite city officials’ claims that mitigation efforts are underway, residents say the smell is just as bad as ever—if not worse.

A Persistent Problem

According to locals, the nauseating odors and chemical fumes are affecting their quality of life. Some report burning eyes and difficulty breathing, while others question whether an additional odor is being pumped in to mask the cannabis scent.

"How were they ever allowed to open without fixing this first?" one frustrated resident asked. "It’s still here, and we’re sick of it."

City’s Attempted Solutions

A report from Cannabusters, a company hired to address the issue, acknowledges that high concentrations of odor remain despite multiple mitigation systems. The facility has reportedly installed two odor-control systems inside and one outside, but the effectiveness of these measures remains questionable.

One resident summarized the sentiment: "The technology exists to fix this—why isn’t the city pushing them to comply?"

What’s Next?

Cathedral City officials maintain that improvements have been made, but residents are demanding stronger action. For now, the lingering cannabis odor remains a point of frustration—and a problem that has yet to pass the smell test.
